Unlike another important Bohemian Baroque sculptor, F.M. Brokof, M. B. Braun did not tend to select high quality sandstone blocks for his sculpture. The exterior works suffered greatly. The author describes a method of reconstructing missing portions such as fingers or toes by cast stone molded from a composition of small sectional molds of the existing original details. This was possible in the case of eight large Heracles statues flanking the two portals of the Clam-Gallas palace in Prague (c. 1714). The weathered look of the surfaces is achieved authentically without the painstaking effort needed to blend the newly carved piece of stone used for restoration.
