Extensive field work by researchers at Southampton and Sheffield has made the neutron activation analysis of large numbers of geological samples from Melos and Giali possible. Results are presented on these samples and on samples from several archaeological sites in the eastern Mediterranean region. Some preliminary results have also been obtained by Mössbauer spectroscopy and the results are compared with those for western Mediteranean sources. -- AATA
