Various factors responsible for decay are dust, humidity, temperature, and biological agents. The temperature and relative humidity are very high in the museum throughout the year except for one or two months. Due to high RH and temperature, biological growth is very rapid on objects. For fixing objects to panels, nylon cords and brass or copper nails should be used instead of iron nails and wire. The objects coming directly from the field are to be treated with various fumigants and insecticides. Insect holes are filled with insecticides mixed in paraffin wax. Extreme care should be taken for treatment of objects made of leather, wood, metal, or textile. Objects displayed in museum galleries should be cleaned and fumigated on a regular basis. -- AATA
