Abstract
Excavations in the Timna Valley in 1974-1976 revealed three different elements of mining technology, the most important of which was the discovery of such an early use of the shaft and gallery system. The significance of six of the sites thus far excavated for the history of metallurgy is discussed at length. See also AATA 16-1746 for more information about the work at Timna. -- AATA
