Abstract
Christian Goller, who studied restoration at the Stuttgart Art Academy's Institute of Painting Technology, describes how a deliberately forged painting could pass routine scientific analyses used for establishing authenticity. The Cleveland Museum's copy of Goller's Saint Catherine is now used in the Conservation Department for research in the detection of forgeries. -- AATA
