A six-part paravent by the Jpanese painter Sotatsu ( 17th century). exhibited fissures and flaking paint. To consolidate the paint, A Planatol BB was used. Old repairs were removed by an ammonia solution. To retouch the gilded parts, small areas were painted with gold in aquarell technique. Larger missing parts were covered by gold leaf. The green, blue and ochre parts were retouched in aquarell techniques, using a Japanese glue medium. -- AATA
