Abstract
A writing material, obtained from the pitch of the Tung-Tsau or Tsuso tree, and incorrectly called ricepaper is described. Both the production of Tsuso paper and the techniques used by 18th and 19th century Tsuso painters are outlined. Some comments on the conservation and restoration of highly sensitive objects made from this paper are included. Photographs and diagrams.
