Abstract
The principles which guide the Laboratori de Restauro, Florence, in the cleaning and retouching of paintings are demonstrated by a number of case histories. Their aim is to obtain a moderate and balanced cleaning, working in a gradual and controlled manner. Retouching makes use of the techniques of astrazione cromatica and selezione cromatica.
