Abstract
The processes of deterioration of marble monuments in churches are described together with methods for protecting the monuments from the ambient environment. Methods of cleaning, either <i>in situ or in a laboratory are explained. The use of dowels and resins in repair and reconstruction are dealt with and amplified in a report of work on one monument.
