Abstract
Research has shown that, to consolidate sandstone, it is necessary to use polymers of high molecular weight and solvents with a low degree of reactivity. These conditions are reached when solutions of methyl methacrylate and toluene are used alone or mixed with white spirit. Paraloid B-72 was not considered suitable because, being a small molecule and polydispersive resin, it is easily transported to the surface.
