Abstract
Studies of adsorption of C1<sup>-</sup>on Fe<sub>3</sub>O<sub>4</sub> (magnetite) in the pH region 6.6-9.5, which is typical of the environment found in marine sediments. Data shows that chloride ions specifically adsorb on magnetite unlike the other iron oxides which only show coulombic interaclions (other oxides such as alphaFe<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> and alpha, gammaFeO.OH). -- AATA
