A considerable amount of work has been done on the development of polymeric wetting and dispersing agents for solvent-based paint systems. As they are high-molecular weight, they give excellent stability of pigments against reflocculation due to the impartation of a positive charge. They also give the paintmaker the opportunity to produce high-quality tinting pastes for tinting systems.
