Abstract
The effect of wool fiber properties and constructional changes made during hand-knotted carpet weaving has been studied for 16 commercial samples of Indian carpets. Constructional changes were more critical than fiber properties and affect the resiliency and compressibility behavior of the carpets. Contrary to the general belief, finer wool carpets were more resilient than coarser wool carpets, however, these carpets were also more compressible.
