Bones and tissue from 42 humans from Denmark and Greenland, ranging in time from 5500 B.C. to A.D. 1750, have been analyzed for ₁₃C. The analyses have shown a very marked difference in food habits between Mesolithic time in Denmark, when marine food was dominant and Neolithic time and more recent periods, where a predominance of terrestrial food is indicated.
