Abstract
The author, replying to a previous letter on the subject, assesses the risk of explosions in freeze-drying specimens containing azides. He concludes that naturally-occurring azides pose a negligible risk, and those specimens with sodium azide added still small. (Abstractor's note: The author works for the manufacturers of Edwards High Vacuum, makers of freeze-driers, and may have a biased view.) -- AATA
