Abstract
Anca limestone is a stone widely used in portuguese historic monuments, which now show serious conservation problems. A silicone-resin was applied for surface hydrophobization and an acrylic polymer for surface protection against atmospheric agents and pollutants. Laboratory tests assessed the effects of light, water and light, sulphur dioxide, and salt crystallization. The performance of the two products is compared. -- ICCROM
