Abstract
The first reproductions of paintings were engravings. Photography was used for the reproduction of paintings from the middle of the 19th century onwards. Photogravure and collotype are explained. The following photographic techniques are discussed: detail photography, raking-light photography, macrophotography, and microphotography. Bibliography.
