Abstract
Factors in the maintenance of paintings include climate control, light protection, frames, and micro-organisms. The following conservation treatments are surveyed: consolidation, reinforcement and humidity protection of panel-painting supports; canvas relining; fixative consolidation of paint; regeneration and cleaning; filling and retouch. Notes on the conservation of paper, ivory, leather, lacquer, metal, stone, stucco and glass paint supports are included.
