Resembling silver, Trengganu white brass -- an alloy of brass, zinc, nickel and lead -- is cast by the lost wax process, with the simple decorations added. Older pieces contain about 9% nickel and do not tarnish, while new ones contain about 3% and tarnish rapidly. The origin of the craft, now practiced only in Trengganu State, Malaysia, and the history of white brass are discussed. -- AATA
