Abstract
Scanning electron microscopy confirms earlier work by proton-induced x-ray emission (PIXE), neutron activation analysis (NAA), and x-ray diffraction (XRD) on the presence of skeletal remains of the freshwater sponge <i>Potamolipis</i> in the temper of Mali pottery dated to the 7th century AC.
