Samples of cotton fabric, both new and preaged by baking at 150°C in a dry oven, were subjected to treatment with either sodium tetrahydroborate or tetramethulammonium tetrahydroborate, dried and aged for varying periods of time in a dry oven at constant temperature. Experiments were conducted at temperatures of 100, 120, 140 and 150°C. Color change, tear strength and degree of polymerization were determined for the treated cloths and compared to controls which had the same history except for the chemical additive.
