Abstract
The importance of simplest parameter characterizing dyes used for printing of wool fabrics treated with low-temperature plasma or chlorinated has been investigated. Printing of 15 acid dyes with molecular weight ranging from 364 to 862 and 5 1:2 metalcomplex dyes with molecular weight 677-940 on three different fabrics chlorinated with NaOCl (CHB), chlorinated with DCCA (DCB) and plasma treated (BP4) has shown that print results on all three fabrics investigated are clearly dependent on the molecular weight of dyes used for printing. For dyes with molecular weight below minimal weight (656<ds>674 for dyes tested) fixation degree is low (FG<sub>2</sub> = 45,3 - 52,6per thousand) but the prints intensity is higher on BP4 fabrics than on CHB or DCB fabrics. If the molecular weight of the particular dye is higher than a.m. minimal weight, than the fixation degrees FG* l2*s are higher (75,8 - 82,7per thousand) but prints intensity is lower on BP4 fabrics (92,0per thousand) than on DCB (93, 1per thousand) or CHB (100 per thousand) fabrics. If dissagregation agent is used in print formulations (e.g. Colorcontin TMF - 15 g/kg) then the average print intensity increases by 11,3per thousand for CHB, 30,4per thousand for DCB and by 27,0per thousand on BP4 fabrics for dyes with molecular weight above minimal weight. Printing of three fabrics (CHB, DCB, BP4) with dyes of molecular weight above minimal weight in presence of 15 g/kg Colorcontin TMF gives prints which are fully comparable as far as print intensity and fixation degree are concerned.
