Preparation of wool fabrics for printing by low temperature plasma and chlorination with NaOCl and DCCA has been assessed by printing with 3 acid and 4 1:2 metalcomplex dyes. The print intensity is comparable for both methods of preparation but yellowing of wool during steaming is much less for plasma treated fabrics than for chlorinated fabrics. Visual examination of printed fabrics and evaluation by CIELAB system have shown that prints on plasma treated fabrics are brighter than on chlorinated fabrics as could be expected from smaller yellowing and better whiteness of plasma treated fabrics.
