An autoradiography procedure developed at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center can be used to restore old photographs to their original clarity. The procedure was originally developed to improve the image of underexposed astronomy photographs, and can also be used for enhancing X-ray film images. High cost and lack of automatic processing methods are the main limitations.
