The conservation procedure of a bronze icon discovered in a chance excavation in the Dharwad region of Karnataka State of south India is described. The huge dimension, 75 cm high, 55 cm maximum width, and the solid cast nature of the statue of the deity presented a challenging job. The metal corrosion products were identified by x-ray diffraction (XRD); the spots of active corrosion were successfully stabilized.
