Abstract
The shortcomings of currently used adhesive systems for the lining of paintings are viewed in regard to the characteristics of the ideal adhesive. Modern adhesive systems include contact and heat-seal adhesives. Formulations for beva heat-seal adhesives which have undergone accelerated ageing tests are given.
