Abstract
The reaction products from accelerated sulphur dioxide attacks due to intensified industrialization were identified as 85-97% gypsum. As the details of the statues are preserved on the surface of the gypsum but not on the marble/gypsum interface, gypsum films must neither be washed off nor covered with any coatings. The mechanism of gypsum formation was studied. -- AATA
