An account of the restoration of Michelangelo's Pieta involving the dedication of a seven-man team of the Vatican Museums. The team consisted of the director general of the Vatican Museums, a marble restorer, a restorer of bronzes and paintings, a plasticist and an engineer. After photographic and plastic documentation of the damage, all the materials were tested and determined to be reversible. The work was aided by a previously made direct impression. -- AATA
