Abstract
An 1888 excavation at Ikarion received only periodic care and cleaning by the Greek Archaeological Service; dense undergrowth was causing damage to the walls. In 1981 a team returned to the site to document the remains as they were currently preserved, clean ihe site, and restudy the site in view of the accumulated archaeological knowledge. Detailed cleaning of stones was done by student volunteers. It was determined that the choregic monument could be reerected since every block including those in the roof was extant. -- AATA
