Abstract
Pottery of the Hallstatt-period is decorated in various ways. Graphite was applied on the surface before decorating it by scratching lines with the cut leaves of reed. Also other types of decoration were pounded into the surface using simple tools. Graphite and other pigments were used also after baking.
