A complete history of the marks and signs on Meissen porcelain from 1710 to the present is presented: all authentic signs are discussed in regard to meaning and possible dates. The Rex sign was marked on porcelain destined for royalty. Other signs include the whip, star, and sword. Imitations from the 18th and 19th century are illustrated with examples from England and Thuringia, and Germany, Belgium, Holland, and France. Several forms of decoration on both blue and colored glazed porcelain from Meissen are demonstrated.
