The Astor Garden of the Metropolitan Museum in New York is a copy of the Garden of the Master of the Fishing Nets in Suzhou, near Shanghai, which first dates from the 1100's but whose current design dates from the end of the 18th century. Native Chinese workmen were sent to work on this project. Tiles were produced at the Lumu imperial kiln especially for this reproduction. Special construction techniques are described. -- AATA
