To examine fragments of tiles and bricks, collected during systematic surface prospection, in view of refined dating of Gallo-Roman sites, measuring the dip of thermoremanent magnetization is proposed. To distinguish different materials of tiles and bricks on a site, the angle between the magnetic north and the horizontal edge of the element, a variable characteristic of the infilling of the kiln, combined with the dip is successfully used.
