Abstract
Soluble salts can be extracted from porous materials by introducing several surface-active liquids, which act, among other factors, by changing charge conditions at the interface between pore walls and salt solution film. The formation of whiskers at the surface is considered as the most effective form of salt extraction. It can be achieved by using appropriate techniques which are discussed. Also discussed are the mode of operation and eventual risks of several active treatments.
