This thesis reports the results of chemical studies undertaken to reconstruct the process of production of Egyptian Blue pigment. A series of solid state reactions upon heating were delineated which result in the formation of Egyptian Blue, followed by its decay to green glass. Results of x-ray fluorescence analysis of samples of Egyptian Blue pigment are presented.
