Abstract
The analysis of practical case goods such as chests of drawers and bookcases requires that methods be available for analyzing the effects of the rigidity of the joints on overall case rigidity, along with the contribution of a front frame to overall case stiffness. In this paper, a method of analyzing the contribution of a front frame to overall case stiffness is presented. A rational procedure is then presented for analyzing the effects of joint stiffness on overall case rigidity. The solution of these two problems makes it possible, for the first time, to rationally analyze and design most commercial case goods furniture. -- AATA
