The author summarizes briefly some aspects of Roman iron metallurgy. The prime function of the article is a presentation of a gazetteer of British sites, fully referenced and dated with comments on remains. These include charcoal, ore, mines, features (ore-roasting pits, smelting furnaces and smithing hearths) and slags. -- AATA
