Abstract
The age and the growth velocities of cave deposits like stalactites, stalagmites and cave pearls at Akiyoshi-dô Cave in Japan and at Caverna do Diabo in Brazil have been determined by the method of electron spin resonance (ESR). Technical notes to get a consistent age by avoiding the porous site are discussed. ESR Analysis of these materials can aid in their conservation when they occur in artifacts.
