Abstract
Thermoluminescence of ancient potteries and ceramic artifacts can tell their age. The method is simply an extension of the well established nuclear radiation dosimetry techniques. The underlying physical principles of thermoluminescence dating are enumerated here. Results obtained on a few ancient Indian potteries as well as non pottery materials like sand dunes, sediments etc. are also presented. Thermoluminsence analysis of ceramic artifacts can aid in their conservation.
