The article describes emergency measures used in dealing with water damaged documents and albumin prints, including getting documents frozen immediately to minimize running of ink, and problems encountered in later transfer to freeze-dry facilities. Albumin prints were not frozen since this would damage them. Materials, equipment and sources found to be useful are described. They used disaster planning information from the Library Science Courses in Conservation of Library Materials given by the Northeast Document Conservation Center and the disaster plan for the Longfellow NHS.
