The Microfilm Archive of Texas Archeology was initiated in February, 1977, by the Council of Texas Archeologists for the purpose of establishing and distributing a permanent record of all organized archeological work that has taken place in Texas. The microfilm archive is produced and distributed by the Office of the State Archeologist, Texas Historical Commission, as part of its ongoing program to maintain records of archeological work in Texas for both cultural resource management and research. Copies of the archive are made available at minimal cost as a service of the Commission. For each document microfilmed, a Comprehensive Publications Data Form is included at the beginning of the microfilm entry. This form provides a bibliographic citation and informa tion on the geographical area covered in the report, the extent of the report, and the kind of work reported. The data form also serves as a guide to the reader in locating individual reports on a particular roll. A printed index is planned for each section of the CTA Microfilm Archive of Texas Archeology. The archive will be issued in sections consisting of 15 to 20 rolls each. This Index is a combined index for Section I, Rolls I-15, and Section II, Rolls 16-33. It includes the followingindex guides: Author Index, Key Word Index, County Index, and Issuing Agency Index. The Key Word lndex takes the place of a title index, since each key word in a title is indexed there. -- AATA
