In April of 1976 a Roman grave near the road to Sisak was discovered one meter beneath the surface. It was built of brick, measuring 229 x 121 cm, and was covered with a tablet of domestic soft stone of reddish hue (ribanac) in the form of a low roof. Ceramics, glass, and amber were mixed with earth and the bone remains. Objects of art in amber are not usuallyfound in Roman graves and this find was unique in Yugoslavia. Two of the ornaments were formed in the shape of a vine leaf with figural representations on the back. The grave dates to the end of the 2nd or beginning of the 3rd century A.D.; the deceased was identified as female. -- AATA
