Examination of bone is used in determining dietary stress in various populations. Problems with sample distribution are discussed. Skeletal analysis is increasingly oriented toward the techniques of chemistry and microbiology. Elemental analysis and the determination ₁₃C/₁₂C ratios in bone are likely to be important in future studies.
