Abstract
The HMS Pandora, the ship sent out to find the mutineers from the Bounty, sank in 1791 off the Queensland coast of Australia. The retrieval of artifacts from the shipwreck included a bronze rudder pintle, covered in coralline deposits. Article discusses necessity of the subsequent conservation treatment, how it was treated, and the resultant layers of corrosion products discovered under the outermost calcareous surface. -- AATA
