A Flemish cabinet from one of the Smithsonian museums was treated at the Smithsonian's Conservation Analytical Laboratory. The object was unpacked carefully in order to avoid abrupt changes in relative humidity. Earlier coatings were removed and analyzed, and a mixture which would produce an acceptably cosmetic appearance was found. It was recommended that careful control be kept over relative humidity in the environment where the object was to be exhibited.
