The aim of this paper is to provide a typological and chronological classification of the copper processing in Yugoslavia. On the basis of the results of this classification, the author draws some parallels with southeastern Europe and, in that context, tries to explain some general questions such as those concerning the origin of metallurgy and its social function. -- AATA
