Abstract
This paper discusses the 1988 amendments to the Copyright Act, as they concern the museum curator. Reference is made to the extension of copyright to include Exhibition rights, and to the elaboration of the Moral rights of the creator. These rights are described in relation to their possible implications for the activities of the museum and museum curator. The author discusses certain objections made, by the museum community, to the new exhibition rights of the artist. The importance of clear communication between artist and curator, identifying the intention of the artist with respect to terms and conditions of display for a particular work, is stressed; and when necessary, the preparation of written agreements to that effect is recommended.
