Vessels on zoomorphic pedestals have been found in considerable numbers in the late Kushanic layers in Bactria and in Behram. The pedestals are all handmade while the vessels they support have been made upon the wheel. These ceramic pieces have been found in dwellings and subsidiary buildings of the common people. These finds have been accompanied by finds of Kushanic-Sassanian coins, dating from the 3rd to the mid-5th century AD. Unless similar vessels are found in earlier layers, they should be considered part of the late Kushanic ceramic complex. -- AATA
