The silver reliquary head of S. Gereon, ca 1400, formerly in the Halle Moritzkirche relic collection of Albrecht von Brandenburg, is known through its illustration in the Aschaffenburg Codex (MS 14, Hofbibliothek, Aschaffenburg) of 1526/27; the importance of this manuscript is that it reproduces most of the reliquaries in the Halle collection, many of which are now lost, for the present knowledge of medieval silversmithing. -- AATA
