Abstract
The early history of lost wax bronze casting is reviewed. More complex sculptures became possible with the development of the technique identified as Roman jointing. Decisions must be made during restoration treatment about whether to use the Roman joint, soldering, or welding; advantages of each in certain situations are discussed. Methods of re-patination and color matching are also described. -- AATA
